At our aquatic nursery  we propagate  tropical day and night blooming lilies, marginal, floating and submerged plants.  We choose mostly tropical lily varieties that are free blooming so your new pond always has color. We supply plants with all the gardens we build, maintain and to the wholesale market only. We are not a retail location.

Water Lilies

Lilies can be set  in  your pond with 6 inches to 3 feet of water over the pot. They  will  adjust to the water depth in a few days. Lilies should be  fertilized  monthly with aquatic plant tabs at the rate of two tabs  per gallon of pot.  A full 3 gallon pot gets 6 tabs per month. Using a stick or  your finger, poke a hole  in the soil towards the bottom of the pot and not below the crown of the plant and set the tabs. Cover the tabs  with soil on the pot. Trim off dead  leaves with scissors and remove from pond.   Lilies can be set in  larger containers using plain black topsoil. The larger the container the larger the plant and blooms. Do not use potting soils as they will rot roots in an aquatic pot and float out.

Marginal or Bog Plants

Most Marginal plants  want only a couple  of inches of water over their pot and will do well in wet boggy soil. You can use bricks or  crates to elevate  them if you don’’t have a plant shelf. We rarely  fertilize marginal  plants as they need less and  we want them to get their nutrients from the  pond helping to keep the water clear.  When repotting use  plain black topsoil. Do not use mixed  potting soils as they will rot  roots in an aquatic pot and float out. Trim off  dead leaves and  remove from pond. The larger the container the larger the plant and blooms. Most marginal’’s can also be added bare root. Simple pin down  with a rock or brick.

Submerged and  floating plants are the real workhorse of a balanced system and clear water.  They shade the water and remove excess nutrients therefore starving  algae. These can simply be  placed in the pond or  you can pin them down with a rock or brick as you see fit.
